Affiliate Disclosure
Last Updated: June 2026
America Smart Home believes that honesty about how we make money is just as important as honesty in our product reviews. This page explains our affiliate relationships clearly, how they work, and exactly how they do — and do not — affect the content you read on this site.
We Are Part of the Amazon Associates Program
America Smart Home is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program that allows websites to earn commissions by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated Amazon stores.
When you click a product link on this site and make a purchase on Amazon, we earn a small commission — typically between 3% and 8% depending on the product category. This costs you nothing extra. The price you pay on Amazon is exactly the same whether you arrive through our link or go to Amazon directly.
Example: If we link to a Eufy security camera listed at $149.99 and you buy it, Amazon pays us approximately $4.50–$9.00. That commission helps us buy more products to test and keeps this site running.
Other Affiliate Programs We Participate In
In addition to Amazon Associates, we may earn commissions from the following retailers and programs when you purchase through our links:
- Best Buy — Smart home devices, cameras, thermostats, and electronics
- Home Depot — Smart locks, video doorbells, security systems, and smart lighting
- Walmart — Budget smart home products and accessories
- Eufy (direct) — Eufy-brand security cameras and home devices
- Reolink (direct) — Reolink-brand security cameras and NVR systems
- ecobee — Smart thermostats and home sensors
- ShareASale network — Various smart home brand partners
- Impact.com network — Various smart home brand partners
We only join affiliate programs for products and brands we have researched thoroughly and would recommend to a family member. We do not join programs solely for commission rates.
How Affiliate Links Do Not Influence Our Reviews
This is the part that matters most. Here is our commitment to you:
- Commission rates never determine rankings. If Product A pays us 8% and Product B pays us 3%, but Product B is the better buy — Product B ranks higher. Full stop.
- We link to non-affiliate products. If the best option for a reader has no affiliate program, we still recommend it and link to it. Our goal is to help you, not to maximize our commission.
- We always show total cost, including subscriptions. Many high-commission products have expensive monthly plans. We show the 3-year total cost in our comparison tables — even when that math makes the higher-commission product look worse.
- No brand pays for placement or editorial coverage. Brands cannot pay us to be included in a comparison, to receive a higher score, or to appear in a “best of” list. Inclusion is based entirely on product quality and reader relevance.
- We do not accept free products in exchange for reviews. Everything we review is purchased with our own money or researched through verified third-party sources. Brands have no financial relationship with our editorial decisions.
How to Identify Affiliate Links on This Site
Any post that contains affiliate links will include one of the following notices:
- A disclosure statement at the top of the article: “This post contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you.”
- A footer notice: “As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.”
These disclosures appear on every article that contains affiliate links, in compliance with FTC guidelines.
Display Advertising
America Smart Home may display ads through Google AdSense on some pages. These ads are clearly marked as “Advertisement” or “Sponsored.” We do not use pop-up ads, auto-play video ads, or interstitial ads that interrupt reading. Ads are placed to avoid interfering with content or misleading readers about what is editorial content versus paid advertising.
FTC Compliance
This disclosure complies with the Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines under 16 CFR Part 255: Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. Per FTC requirements, all material connections between America Smart Home and any advertiser, affiliate partner, or brand are clearly disclosed on this page and within individual articles.
